For the “strawberry night” = “Notte Fragolosa” according to Terricciola
With the spring sun comes the desire for strawberries. While we still have to wait a while for the sweet fruits here, the strawberry harvest in Italy is already in full swing. And because the Italians enjoy eating strawberries at least as much as we do here in Germany, they celebrate Terricciola (Tuscany) On April 30, 2017, for the first time, a “strawberry night” in honor of “Sua Maesta la Fragola” (Her Highness the Strawberry).
If you eat, you drink for free!
The Terricciolesi, as the residents of Terricciola are called, love to party and their village and wine festivals are known beyond the borders of the small community. With the "Notte fragolosa", the "strawberry night" is joined by another event, for which a separate currency was even created with the Frago-Dindi, the strawberry thalers. The motto of the strawberry festival is: “If you eat, you drink for free“And so residents and guests can look forward to a very special night in which everything will revolve around strawberries with street artists, music, good street food, Tuscan specialties and excellent wine. The “strawberry” menu: Macedonia di fragole (=strawberry salad) Macedonia di fragole con cioccolato (=strawberry salad with chocolate sauce) Macedonia di fragole con crema chantilly (=strawberry salad with chantilly cream) Macedonia di fragole e panna (=strawberry salad with whipped cream) Bomboloni fragola e panna (=Tuscan cheese filled with whipped cream and strawberries) Bomboloni cioccolato e fragole (=Tuscan cheese filled with chocolate sauce and strawberries) Bomboloni crema e fragole (=Tuscan cheese filled with egg cream and strawberries) The “strawberry” drinks menu: Bellini (prosecco e fragole = prosecco and strawberries) Caipiroska alla fragola (strawberry caipiroska)
Village of wine and strawberries
Tenor Andrea Bocelli, who lives in the neighboring town of Lajatico, congratulated the initiators, the Pro Loco Terricciola association. “Any initiative that aims to make our region better known has my support. It is so important to let guests take part in the scenic and architectural beauty and the oeno-gastronomic highlights.”, writes Maestro Bocelli. His letter is a declaration of love to Terricciola, the hospitable village where he made his first appearances at the age of 20. “Citt´`a del vino, village of wine, but also village of strawberries and diverse agricultural products”, he calls Terricciola. Gifted by nature, the small community never ceased to amaze and nourish the people there from the Etruscan period to the third millennium.
