Tuscany – particularly the enchanting hilly landscape between the medieval villages of San Miniato and Palaia – is the beating heart of truffle hunting. Three of the most precious truffle species are found here: the Bianchetto truffle (tuber borchii), which is in season from January to April, the Scorzone truffle (Summer tuber), which is harvested from May to September, and finally the noble white truffle (tuber magnatum), which is sought after from September to January. Thanks to the special microclimate, the unique soil composition, and the intact natural landscape, San Miniato is one of the most important truffle regions in the world – not only because of the impressive quantity, but above all because of the outstanding quality of this noble delicacy.
