Landscape and architecture
The land around Siena, the pure authentic land created by people over the centuries, is very dear to the owner family. For this reason, e.g. For example, the antique water mill and its wheels were lovingly restored true to the original, so that its architecture has been preserved and the remains of the old wheel can still be seen today! The newly created living spaces perfectly integrate the charm of old times with the comfort of modern times. Materials from the immediate surroundings (wood, travertine stone, cotto) were used during construction.

Agriculture and food
The owners immediately embraced the organic lifestyle. They are followers of the slow food philosophy and firmly believe that food should be “good, natural and authentic”. The following organic products are produced on the farm: olive oil, fruit, vegetables and jams. Products such as beef, flour, cheese and sausages that are not produced at Agriturismo Asciano are sourced from local producers and friends. In doing so, they try to reduce the steps in the food chain as much as possible. According to the owners' opinion, food should not be an industrial product but an agricultural product.

Elisa’s organic breakfast
Breakfast at this organic farm consists of fresh produce or products prepared by Elisa. Bread and pastries are baked with organic flours from organic farms in the Crete region. Organic eggs almost always come from our own hens. Organic jams also come from our own production or are purchased from businesses in the area. The owners get honey from the farms in Asciano and Rapolano. Fresh fruit is grown organically at Agriturismo Asciano or purchased from surrounding businesses. Juices come from a biodynamic farm. Sausages are also organic and come from animals raised under natural conditions. Cheeses are made in local companies, are often made from raw milk and are almost always organic, as are cereal flakes, juices, muesli, yoghurt, tea, herbal teas and milk. The owners recommend that those interested visit all of these establishments; guided tours and tastings are always offered (addresses will be announced on site). Since it is time-consuming to prepare such a breakfast if desired, it must be booked when booking.

A heart for pets
Your pets are always welcome at Agriturismo Asciano. The holiday apartments are surrounded by a spacious garden, so that your pets can run around freely on the lawn. All apartments in the neighboring building also have a private fenced garden. The owners, who love animals, have been breeding Labradors for years and also held dog leadership and training courses on the premises. This activity has been completely stopped for 2-3 years, but the love of the hosts for the four-legged friends and for the animals in general is deeply rooted and has remained intact.

Energy and transport
Driven by the idea of ​​providing themselves with energy independently and using renewable energy sources, the owners took part in a national project to create solar systems in 2001: two solar systems cover the energy needs of the organic farm. Wood heating systems provide heat. For this purpose, a 2006-hectare piece of forest was purchased in 12, which the family manages themselves. Only wood that is intended for heating is cut. Hot water is generated by solar panels. Energy saving light bulbs help save energy and outdoor lighting is also kept to a minimum. If possible, family members use public transport. Sandro enjoys cycling and his favorite holiday on two wheels is always “emission-free”! The family's cars are equipped with LPG systems. (They don't want to do without cars completely either!!)

From the beginning, the owners of Agriturismo Asciano have separated waste, even if they were at times in the minority and sometimes ridiculed. They now also support the theory that reducing waste is even more important than waste separation. They reject disposable products (especially plastic plates, cutlery and cups). All food scraps are destined for the house chickens or for composting.
