The entire province of Pisa can be discovered by bike on some circular routes. From the coast you can reach the highest peak of the Pisan mountainsto pay more attention to the Mount Serra and in the Valleys of the Arno and Era rivers. The path also leads past historical settlements from the Etruscan period and castles from the Middle Ages as well as through villages known for their wine production, such as: b. Terricciola, Chianni, Peccioli, Palaia, Lari, Lajatico.
Far away from the tourist hustle and bustle you will find in Cecina Valley In addition to small country churches, there are also ruins of fortifications and a variety of medieval places, such as Montescudaio, Guardistallo and Casale Marittimo.
Volterra is strategically located, 500 m above sea level, far inland and offers a wonderful panorama. Thanks to its ore deposits, the Etruscans settled here as early as the 4th century. In the historic center, next to the impressive city wall, there is the Etruscan Museum. We also recommend a walk through the gray stone alleys.
Another route example is the path to the coast via the small medieval village La Sassa, on the slopes of Poggio al Pruno located. Here begins the so-called “Cypress Alley”, which the poet Carducci praised and which follows Bolgheri in the province of Livorno.
The 24.000 hectare area is also wonderful for cyclists Migliarino-San Rossore-Massaciuccoli Natural Park, located on the border with the province of Livorno, between Viareggio and Livorno, which offers unique flora and fauna.
