The 300 km long Tuscan coast is very diverse: romantic bays and bays, wonderful beaches made of fine gravel or sand and picturesque landscapes. There are three different coastal sections: the Versilia Coast, the Etruscan Coast and the Maremma Coast. Bathing enthusiasts will find dreamy bays everywhere as well as wonderful long stretches of beach with fine sand or pebbles. The sea on the coast of Tuscany combines all the advantages of the Mediterranean; the water is comparatively warm and calm and therefore ideal for children. At the same time, it offers ideal conditions for windsurfing and other water sports.
The Versilia Coast refers to the northern part of the Tuscan sea, which is located between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Apuan Alps. Well-known cities are Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio and Camaiore. Wide sandy beaches are the characteristic feature of this section. Only on the border with Liguria, in the very north, is the coast rocky and therefore ideal for diving and fishing.

The Etruscan Coast offers a whole range of different rocky and sandy beaches and several well-known seaside resorts: Livorno, Castiglioncello, Rosignano, Vada, Cecina, Bibbona, Marina di Castagneto, San Vincenzo, Venturina, Baratti and Piombino. Especially south of Livorno, many bathing areas, bays and bays are surrounded by picturesque rocky reefs. Several kilometers of fine sandy beaches stretch from Rosignano via Cecina, Bibbona, Castagneto, San Vincenzo and Baratti to further south to Piombino. Bathing enthusiasts will find their beach fun here, which is equipped with modern comforts. For nature lovers, there are numerous natural beaches away from the tourist crowds. The stretch of coast between Vada and the Piombino promontory is characterized by the most beautiful and longest pine forests.

The southernmost part of the Tuscan coast is called the Maremma Coast and scores points between Follonica and the unique lagoon landscape of the Monte Argentario peninsula with a number of enchanting sandy beaches and the “Parco Naturale della Maremma” (colloquially also Parco dell'Uccellina). This nature reserve covers an area of approximately 9800 hectares and has a largely intact ecosystem. Seaside resorts on this stretch of coast are Marina di Grosseto, Follonica, Punta Ala, Castiglione della Pescaia, Principina, Talamone, Grosseto, Orbetello, Ansedonia and Monte Argentario.
