Holiday home Camugliano | Tuscany like a picture book: A little paradise around the Medici Villa.

This holiday home in the heart of Tuscany is something very special: it is part of a historic estate that is one of the most important estates in the area and has been owned by the Florentine patrician Niccolini family since 1637.

Over the centuries, the property has been cared for with love and passion by its owners, so that it has retained its harmonious flair to this day and perfectly reflects the interplay of tradition and modernity.

Immediately after purchasing the property, the family's ancestor, Filippo Niccolini, renovated the entire farm by cultivating the land, expanding cultivation and expanding the vineyards. He also began important work on the villa in collaboration with local architects. Right next to the Medici villa, he laid out a cypress avenue, which today leads to the Locanda, and the garden, in which the original three-part division has been preserved to this day: vegetable garden, pomarium (fruit trees) and flower garden with an additional chicken coop in which the white Leghorn chickens live.

The Camugliano holiday home is next to the vegetable garden and an old oil mill. The living space in the former farmhouse, which has been restored to modern standards, is 120 square meters in total and can accommodate 6 people. There is a storage area for bicycles on the ground floor and a washing machine is also available for use.

The actual living area is on the 1st floor. Guests can expect a kitchen-living room with a well-equipped kitchenette and a large dining table, a cozy living room with sofas and two bedrooms, both with a double bed and one with an additional sofa bed for two people. There are also two shower rooms. A fenced garden with pergola, furnished outdoor area, barbecue and a private swimming pool (5,37 x 4,96 m, depth: 116 cm) rounds off the living comfort. Parking is of course available on the property and WiFi is available.

Guests can also book a spot at the Locanda's swimming pool, 900 meters away, for an additional charge. This pool can be used from 9:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m.

A few steps away from the holiday home is the stately Medici villa, whose construction, according to history, was started in the 30s by the Florentine Duke Alessandro de 'Medici. It is surrounded by an extensive estate that is just waiting to be explored by its guests: book the guided tour of the estate Organic tasting at the Medici Villa and enjoy the wonderful nature, the centuries-old oak trees, the beautifully landscaped park, the numerous historic buildings on the property, most of which have been carefully restored, and the diverse products from our own organic farming.

In addition to the Camugliano holiday home, there are other buildings, a small apartment and, a little further away, two other holiday villas on the site. A museum with original agricultural equipment and tools is worth a visit, as are the old underground cellars that lead to the wine-growing area. Even in ancient times, the lands of this area were known for their vineyards and the production of grape juice. The historic cellars, some of which have been restored, bear witness to this tradition. To this day, wine production is an important pillar of the estate's agricultural sector. Discover the family wines made from organically grown Sangiovese or Vermentino grapes in the winery's cellars, respecting the ancient Tuscan tradition!

Basically, organic farming has played a crucial role in Camugliano's farm for over twenty years. As a pioneer in Italy, they are proud to indicate on the label the plot of land on which the product was grown.

Here, philosophy has become a passion and is implemented just as consistently in the company's own business as it is in collaboration with small organic companies, e.g. B. a pasta factory or an oil mill.

Great attention is paid to the early harvesting of olives. The packaging of chickpeas and spelled demonstrates that they treat the environment with respect. Among the types of flour, the Saracen wheat flour stands out and, among the pasta, that of Semola di Grano Antico Cappelli, both white and wholemeal. A delicate organic apricot jam, which is made without the addition of preservatives, is also famous. The farm's beehives produce, among other things, organic millefiori honey and sunflower honey depending on the season.

For those interested, guided tours of the site are offered, e.g. B. the tour “Organic tasting at the Medici Villa“, who guides visitors around the entire estate and lets them taste the exquisite products from their own organic cultivation. 

In addition to wine tasting and a visit to the vegetable garden, depending on the season, there is also a truffle hunt with a final tasting on the program. The best time for this activity is October to December. Summer truffles are on the program from May to September.

The restaurant, called Locanda, is located in an elegant Tuscan farmhouse overlooking the majestic Medici villa at the end of a double row of centuries-old cypress trees. Several larger and smaller rooms as well as a large garden with a covered veranda are ideal for hosting celebrations, even on a larger scale, or for enjoying traditional and innovative dishes imaginatively prepared by the chef using in-house, organic and/or local products .

The children have the opportunity to play in the garden of the holiday home while the adults enjoy a glass of red wine from the family wine cellar.

The Camugliano estate is a small paradise where guests can immerse themselves in ancient Tuscan traditions and experience unforgettable moments between history and nature.
