Art

In Rivalto there are numerous sanctuaries and churches that testify to the historical past of this Tuscan hamlet; so e.g. B. the chapel of the Madonna del Carmine, located entirely in the forest, atmospherically combines religious architecture with nature. It dates back to the 18th century and is famous for its characteristic portico. In the center of the village you can admire the church of Saints Fabiano and Sebastiano, whose facade still bears the coat of arms of the noble Florentine family of Mazzinghi. Worth mentioning, also in the village, is the oratory of the Compagnia della Santa Croce, whose external appearance dates back to the 16th/17th century. Century has been completely preserved. Inside the oratory is kept the painting of the Sorrowful Mary and S. Giovanni, a work of art from the 17th century. Other examples of religious architecture can be found in nearby Chianni: the sanctuary of the Madonna del Carmine, the church of S. Donato with her majestic altar made of multicolored marble, the chapel of Santissima Annunziata. Religious worship has shaped the area of Chianni and Rivalto in recent centuries. This can also be seen in the beatification in 1833 of the monk Giordano of Rivalto, orator and theologian, born in Rivalto in 1260.
