Villa Sesto Fiorentino
Right in the center of the Tuscan cultural landscape, on the edge of the town Sesto Fiorentino and just a few kilometers from Florence lies this special holiday paradise: a former medieval Fortress with wall ring, watchtower and entrance portal and 15th century villa, from the time of the Medici family, both faithfully restored.
The following residential units emerged from the restoration of this complex:
- 4 spacious holiday apartments and 1 double room with bathroom (from the former fortress buildings)
- 1 Villa “Padronale”
The hosts live in the “Padronale” villa and also serve their guests in the fireplace room and breakfast room. Costanza's famous cooking classes take place in the villa's huge, impressive kitchen-living room. The stylish ambience promises a relaxing holiday in the middle of 5 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, fruit and vegetable gardens and a park with beautiful flowers and plants: a spacious green oasis to unwind and enjoy the scents and beauties of nature! Outside the well-preserved fortress walls, life in the town of Sesto Fiorentino pulsates.
The history of Villa Sesto Fiorentino:
The representative property goes back to a long history. The fortress is the oldest part, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages. The second building, the stately Renaissance villa in which the owner family lives today, also dates from the times of the Medici. The property was enlarged again under Grand Duke Lorena. In the 19th century, a sharecropping farm was established.
As early as 1839, the entire complex came into the possession of the current owners' family.
Restoration, style of furnishings, equipment:
The restoration of the former Villa Sesto Fiorentino, combined with the transformation of the fortress into modern holiday apartments, was a long, painstaking process and was, from the outset, under the strict supervision of the local authorities in order to preserve the cultural heritage. Many details of the original farm property have been preserved, such as the chicken coop, well, granary and oven.
In order to restore the historical appearance of the interior as true to the original as possible, great emphasis was placed on using original materials and preserving the classic Tuscan style. An example of this are the old clay tiles on the floors and the massive oak struts on the ceilings, which are also covered with clay tiles, which are so typical of Tuscan construction. Only natural warm colors were used for the walls, obtained from a mixture of mineral oxide and clay. The windows are double-glazed and the frames are made of cypress wood.
In all the apartments, the stone fireplace covers are richly decorated and the kitchens have something very unique: precious marble sinks (Bianco di Carrara, Bardiglio di Carrara, Giallo di Siena, Breccia medicea). Great importance was also placed on originality when it came to furnishing, for example: E.g. the antique wrought iron beds with canopy. The furnishings, including pictures and lamps, come from the private holdings of the owning family from the 18th century.
Four exclusive holiday apartments and a double room with bathroom were created. They offer guests a perfect combination of stylish, historical ambience and the most modern comfort. All apartments are equipped with heating and air conditioning, which can be individually regulated. They also have fully equipped kitchens, cable and satellite TV, telephone and direct Internet access.
In the flowery garden there is a swimming pool (16 x 8 m, not in the ground) and a barbecue area available to guests. Don't miss out on trying the local specialty, the famous “bistecca alla fiorentina”, straight from the owner's kitchen! And that's not the only specialty she has in store for her guests! Cooking classes, dinner and breakfast in the villa are among the best offers at Villa Sesto Fiorentino 1.
About the hosts of Villa Sesto Fiorentino:
The father is an agronomist by profession and takes care of the farm in the house. After long scientific research, he managed to grow old, local fruit and vegetables on the 5 hectares of land, which had often even disappeared completely from the market. The vines in the in-house winery also come from the old traditions of this area. The father produces small quantities of excellent red wine with a fine, special, unique scent in the villa's own cellars from San Giovese, Malvasia Nera and Pugnitello grapes!
Together with their mother, their daughters Costanza and Serena look after the well-being of the guests and the holiday apartments.
Costanza in particular shares her father's passion for agriculture (she is also an agronomist!) She learned all the secrets about cooking from her grandmother and is happy to pass on her knowledge in excellent cooking courses! Costanza's courses begin in the in-house vegetable and fruit garden, where the fresh ingredients (herbs, vegetables, fruit) are picked together with the guests. They end in the fireplace room, when the dishes prepared by the guests are served by the hosts.
Villa Sesto Fiorentino: A very personal way to experience a holiday in Tuscany, in an exquisite ambience with exceptional hosts!
