Organic Agriturismo Fivizzano 1

Bioagriturismo Fivizzano 1 is just 5 minutes from the old village of Fivizzano, but in a completely secluded location surrounded by green nature on a river bank.
This former farm belongs to the same owner as the Agriturismo Fivizzano 2, which is nearby.

It is not directly accessible by road, but only on foot on a comfortable path of about 10-15 minutes or with a suitable off-road vehicle along a dirt road with a river crossing through a ford (the hosts will help with the suitcases and the crossing!). The magnificent stone farmhouse was built around 1700 and has retained its character to this day. The careful renovation has been carried out using original materials and has retained all the original aspects of an early 18th century farmhouse. At the same time, guests are offered modern comfort, so all rooms and the apartment have WiFi.
The Bio-Agriturismo Fivizzano offers guests three double bedrooms on the first floor and an independent apartment on the attic.

On the ground floor you will be welcomed in a characteristic room with a large stone vault. There is a small restaurant here for the guests of the agriturismo and anyone who wants to enjoy genuine and organic dishes made with local products.

The restaurant:

The restaurant on the ground floor is available to anyone who wants to taste genuine and organic dishes.
The breakfast buffet is rich and offers home-made honey and jams, as well as toast and fresh ricotta, homemade desserts, yogurt with crops, coffee, fresh milk and juice.

The kitchen has set itself the goal of rediscovering the old flavors of the area and introducing them to guests. Fixed menus (no à la carte) are offered, traditionally prepared from simple, organic and exclusively local products that come from the in-house business or from companies in the area.

The traditional cuisine of Lunigiana was originally considered the cuisine of the poor people. What sets them apart, however, is their wealth of unique aromas and flavors and very special products, such as: B. Bread made from chestnut flour, the pasta specialty Testaroli or the digestif China Clementi.

At Bioagriturismo Fivizzano they strive to prepare different dishes every day using available fresh seasonal products, lots of fresh vegetables from the garden, from delicate salad to marinated zucchini to fioretti with fresh ricotta. For this reason, the restaurant is only open for dinner during the week by prior reservation. Lunch is also offered on Sundays and public holidays by appointment. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menus are also prepared upon request.

Tables and seating are located both in the characteristic stone vaulted room and outside under the pergola overlooking the apple orchard. In the evening, candlelight and the company of fireflies create an almost magical atmosphere.

Four-legged friends are welcome upon request (but not in all rooms). They are also only allowed inside the dining room under special conditions.
while they are welcome in the outdoor dining area.

Events:

A rich calendar of various events is offered in summer: e.g. E.g. concerts at sunset, storytelling and music evenings, theater under the stars, show cooking, gastronomic excursions with tasting of local products, cooking courses, wellness events and, in autumn, the harvest in the chestnut grove.

Wellness:

A wellness spa was added in 2021: a solarium with a mini pool for cooling off (during the day) and a whirlpool spa with hydromassage and color therapy under the starry sky (from sunset onwards) are offered.

Eco label certification:

The organic agriturismo has one from Legambiente Eco label certification receive. They respect nature, grow organically, serve menus based on local and seasonal products and use renewable energy sources (photovoltaics, solar panels for hot water, wood for heating)

Activities:

The surrounding area offers many excursion options as well as a number of activities and events (e.g. in the wellness area and wine and food tastings) that take place almost all year round.

Castles and medieval villages of Lunigiana:

You don't have to go far to immerse yourself in the Middle Ages. Just a stone's throw from Fivizzano are the Borgo and Verrucola Castle. We also recommend a tour of villages such as Filetto, Ponticello, Bagnone, Mulazzo, Granagola and Pontremoli, rich in history and charm and offering, in summer, medieval markets with handicrafts and reenactments of historical events. It is also worthwhile to visit the Adlerburg with the fascinating story of its mysterious knight... here you have the opportunity to take part in various planned events by prior arrangement.

The sea:

In 30-40 minutes by car you can reach the Tyrrhenian Sea and the coast between Cinque Terre and Versilia. In addition to bathing pleasures, Lerici and San Terenzo, small Ligurian pearls with a past to be discovered, await you there. Another option is from the port in La Spezia: you can take the ferry or a rented boat to Portovenere and the beautiful Cinque Terre. The train that leaves from Aulla and takes just over half an hour to Monterosso, the last village of the Cinque Terre, is also very practical. Here you can sunbathe and swim in the sea or, accompanied by a guide, explore one of the many coastal paths overlooking the sea between Montemarcello, Fiascherino and Tellaro.

Culture and art city:

The famous cultural magnets of Tuscany can also be easily reached on a day trip.
Nearby Fivizzano, which preserves the signs of Medici rule, is one of the cities where the world's first books were written. In the historic center, in addition to a walk on the city walls, it is worth visiting the Augustinian Hostel with the Hall of Ancient Books and the Edmondo Bernacca Museum. Day trips to Pisa, Lucca, Carrara, Florence and Pietrasanta are also recommended.

Nature and adventure:

In addition to the numerous hiking trails in the two regional parks of the Apuan Alps and the national parks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, there are caves in Equi Terme where an underground river flows. Visiting the cave takes approximately 1 hour. A zip line along the Speleo route, inaugurated in 2018, offers thrills. Towards the Cerreto Pass, the Bio-Parco Dei Frignoli is located at 900 meters above sea level in the National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines (Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Tosco-Emiliano). The “Stretti di Giaredo” towards Pontremoli are spectacular gorges along the Gordana stream where tourists can undertake adventurous excursions under the supervision of specialized guides.

Draw:

There are many hiking trails that start in the immediate vicinity and allow you to immerse yourself in the colors and scents of the forest for a day or just a few hours. There is e.g. B. the Tergagliana Way (Cai per la Tergagliana) with a great view of the Apuan Alps, Fivizzano and the entire Rosaro Valley; there is the path of the fairies to reach the natural pools along the Rosaro, the “Bozzi delle Fate”. A stage of the Via del Volto Santo starts from Fivizzano and leads to Lucca (17 km). It is possible to do the stage Fivizzano - Monte Argegna The path leads along fords, churches, beautiful villages and views of the Apuan Alps and reaches its destination where the view extends to the sea.

If you travel by car you can easily reach the area of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine Park, now a UNESCO reserve, or through the Lucido Valley the Park of the Apuan Alps. where a variety of hiking routes await.

The Bioagriturismo has an information board with guides and maps of the area and is happy to advise guests on unusual routes and activities.

The Rosaro River

Both Bioagriturismo Fivizzano 1 and Agriturismo Fivizzano 2 are close to the river. Here you can relax with the gentle sound of the water and brave souls have the opportunity to swim. The Fiacciano waterfalls, known as “Bozzi delle Fate”, can be reached on foot in a 40-minute walk. The path leads along an old mule track that takes you to Pognana and continues through the forest, where picturesque waterfalls and natural pools with crystal clear water await you. You can also get here via a more adventurous route that leads directly from the Bio-Agriturismo up the Rosaro River.

Aromas and flavors of Lunigiana:

  • We recommend a visit to the wine cellar with wine tasting at Castel Del Piano in Licciana Nardi. The winery was awarded by Slow Wine in 2018.
  • Another interesting experience is a visit to the “Laboratorio Testarolando” in Pontremoli, where the famous Lunigiana pasta specialty, the Testaroli, is made. Here you can experience the old culinary art with the “testi in ghisa”. These are cast iron pots consisting of a base and a lid and are used for cooking food over an open fire. This cooking vessel reflects the ancient tradition of Lunigiana, passed down from generation to generation and still very current in the province of Pontremoli.
  • In the center of Pontremoli, we recommend visiting the shops on Via Garibaldi, especially the “Oil Boutique”, where you can taste and buy Tuscan IGP oil. The “Geschäckertour” continues from Pontremoli to Regnano. Here you can visit the bakery where “Marocca di Casola”, the traditional bread made from chestnut flour from the Lunigiana region, is made.
  • You should not miss a visit to the historic Clementi Pharmacy, where the ancient elixir “China Clementi” has been produced for four generations, a very aromatic digestif that you can enjoy when you return to the Bioagriturismo.

Cycling holiday in Fivizzano and “Castagna Bike on the Road”: Explore the hidden treasures of Lunigiana on a bike tour!
