Tuscany with Dog – Part 5

The last week of vacation has begun for Jule, Michael and their three dogs. The two people from Hamburg haven't planned a big sightseeing program; they're just enjoying doing nothing In Tuscany, the spring weather and the amount of free time they can spend with the dogs.

April 3rd: Sunny's birthday

When we get up, it is overcast, but warm enough to still have breakfast on the terrace. It's Sunny's birthday today. The old girl is now 14 years old and the mild temperatures seem to be good for her old bones. In bright sunshine we start our big tour by the stream and then of course we return to the witches' house. Michael has packed treats for the four-legged friends so that our obligatory coffee drink becomes a real little birthday party. In the evening we have an appointment with Elisa and Davide. We drive to Lari and have an excellent dinner there Restaurant Burattinai in the castle of Lari. Dogs are also welcome here and are provided with a bowl of water.

April 4th: The only rainy day

So far we've been lucky with the weather, but today the cloud cover just won't break. Rain might be saying too much, but it drizzled most of the day. Nothing that could scare a hamburger and the dogs don't mind such weather either. That's why we're sticking to our plan, Sara on that one Terricciola Estate to visit. Despite the bad weather, we quickly get an impression of how beautiful it must be here when the sun is shining. After a cappuccino and a piece of cake, Sara leads us through the cellars. Here - after targeted selection in the vineyard - the red wines Aliotto and Teuto mature in wooden barrels - the Teuto even from the beginning.

April 5th: The end is in sight

Tomorrow it's time to say goodbye, so the Bach, the Caffe del Borgo and Il Morso are on our agenda for the last time.

April 6th: Say goodbye

At our last breakfast, thick fog obscures the view. Does Terricciola want to make it easier for us to say goodbye? But when everything was packed around 14 p.m., the sun was shining from a bright blue sky. The dogs seem to suspect that this car ride doesn't just lead to the stream, but they still willingly get in and let themselves be strapped in without any problem. We hug Irene goodbye, who was such a charming host. For the journey I gave us a few slices of “pane” with the delicious Tuscan ham. Of course, they've all been eaten when we take our first break at a motorway service station around 00 p.m. The rest stop looks like a huge shopping center and is absolutely unsuitable for a break with dogs. A traffic jam stopped us 17 kilometers from the Brenner Pass, so we didn't reach our friends in Munich until around 00 p.m.

April 7th: Back home

At a quarter to ten we are back in the car. It seems like the dogs have gotten used to traveling. You get in, make yourself comfortable and doze off. Only our mood was much better exactly 14 days ago - full of anticipation for Terricciola! We take two breaks so that the dogs can get some exercise in between and drink a cappuccino - nothing compared to the one in Italy! We returned home shortly after 17:00 p.m. We obviously brought the nice weather with us - that's a bit forgiving. So first off with the dogs. They are excited and sniff and mark their usual territory. But we decided that we would definitely go to Terricciola again next year - and of course not without our dogs!
