Wedding in Terricciola

Not Pisa, Voltera or Florence – more and more couples are choosing one small village in the hills if you want to get married in Tuscany. But what makes a wedding in Terricciola so attractive for couples from Germany? We spoke to Dorothee D., who married her husband Dennis on May 30, 2018 on the panoramic terrace in Terricciola.

For the first time in Italy

The two Odenwälders have been a couple since 2001. Three years ago, daughter Hannah was born and now it was finally time to get married. “We are out of the age of bachelor parties and bachelorette parties“, says Dorothee, “That's why we only wanted a wedding on a small scale".

Nevertheless, this day should be something very special. Tuscany came to mind for the bride and groom because while researching on the internet they were so impressed by the pictures of the Tuscan landscape that they started looking for an agency that could help them plan this very special day.

A week in beautiful Terricciola

"We were lucky Elisa Santoni from the Toscana Forum who suggested that we celebrate our wedding in Terricciola, her birthplace“says Dorothee. “Starting with the mayor, the hairdresser, the restaurant employees and our hosts In Tuscany, the 35-year-old continued, “They were all so lovely. And that even though we were complete strangers until then. Everyone tried so hard to make this day perfect for us“And that was more than successful. Together with the parents of the bride and groom and the witnesses, Dorothee and Dennis arrived on Saturday, May 26th and young and old immediately felt at home in the lovingly furnished apartments. Even little Hannah, who is always a bit shy, immediately discovers the large garden to play in.

Saying yes in the open air

Then on Wednesday the big day: The mayor Maria Antonietta Fais asks the crucial question in the open air on the largest panoramic terrace in Terricciola: “Do you want to come back and say that you can present yourself to someone, onorarla e rispettarla, in salute e in malattia, in ricchezza e in povertà finché morte non vi separi?"... … “Si! lo voglio“, which means something like “Yes, I want it!” they both say. Maria Antonietta Fais declares the couple husband and wife and asks Dennis: “Puoi baciare la sposa“to kiss the bride. Now that Dorothee and Dennis are officially married, we walk through the picturesque streets of the medieval Borgo of Terricciola, past the house of the village painter Leopoldo Terreni, to a small champagne reception at the Caffé del Borgo. After the wedding menu at Ristorante La Vallata, Elisa Santoni presented the “Silence Theater“(Theater of Silence) by Andrea Bocelli suggested for the official wedding photo, where unforgettable images are created against a dream backdrop.

It couldn't have gone better

Back in the Odenwald, Dorothee says: “Our wedding in Terricciola couldn't have gone better! The Santonis are the nicest hosts you could wish for. We hold them all so dear to our hearts – from the children to Nonna. We didn't expect so much warmth. Thanks to the great planning, the great tips and the support and support from Elisa and Davide (von Toscana Forum, the Tuscany specialists) we experienced our dream wedding and a dream vacation.“And one thing is already certain for the newlyweds: “We will celebrate our wedding anniversary in Terricciola every year!"
